The boss of the Lake District Nationwide Park Authority has been branded “racist” for moaning that solely older, able-bodied white individuals go to the vacationer attraction.
Chief government Richard Leafe is going through a social media backlash after claiming the well-known magnificence spot “should change” to draw extra numerous guests.
He stated the UNESCO World Heritage web site is turning into “unique to 1 single use group”.

Mr Leafe stated: “We’re poor by way of younger individuals, we’re poor by way of black and minority ethnic communities and we aren’t significantly well-visited by those that are much less ready by way of their mobility.”
He was quickly attacked on Twitter, with some slamming the feedback as “racist” and “patronising”.
Judy Brown wrote: “There’s something fairly racist about this Lake District stuff. I’m an individual of color and I adore it for what it’s.
“We’re able to going someplace and having fun with it for what it’s with out having to alter it to be a mini London.”
Phil Shepherd added: “The top of the committee thinks that not sufficient Black or Asian individuals benefit from the lake district.
“I can’t wait to listen to their concepts on the right way to entice them. I’m certain it’ll be completely effective and under no circumstances patronising, pandering, or barely racist.”
The park authority is already going through challenges over its refusal to ban 4x4s and filth bikes from two of its roads.
