The ministry will elevate a three-month web ban within the townships in Rakhine and Chin States if the peace and stability is restored, Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Tha Oo instructed the media after the session of Higher Home Parliament on 7 February.
The ministry’s web shutdown in 4 townships in Rakhine State and one in Chin State will take impact from three February to Could 2.
Underneath the directive of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, since 21 June, 2019, the cellular operators lower off cellular web entry in 9 townships—eight in Rakhine State and Paletwa Township in Chin State. On August 31, the web companies have been restored in Ponnagyun, Pletwa, Maungdaw, Buthedaung, Yathaedaung and Myaebon Townships in Rakhine State.
The ministry re-imposed the web blackout in Buthedaung, Maungdaw, Yathedaung and Myaebon Township in Rakhine State and Paletwa Township in Chin State.
The ministry carries out the web ban in accordance with the regulation. However the SMS and name companies are nonetheless obtainable there, the deputy minister added.
